Internet
Business Ideas
Online Business Ideas
Ecommerce Ideas
There are a wide
variety of internet business ideas that you can run from home. It is
no exageration when we tell you that ordinary people just like
yourself are making, thousands, hundreds of thousands, and even
millions per year, working from home in their own internet business.
Think you need to be some sort of genuis to make this happen?
Absolutely not. Many of the people who are pulling in tens of
thousands of dollars and more per month never even finished high
school. They simply matched themselves up with internet business
ideas that were a good match for themselves, and then got busy.
Important: When
you are searching for "killer" internet business ideas - in
other words, the ones that will really work for you and make you good
money - you should go into it expecting and undstanding that it will
involve some trial and error. Be prepared for this and enjoy the
process. Understand that every internet millionaire (and there are
MANY), has gone through the same thing. Its just a part of the
process, but it is so worth it, because when you do hit the right
idea - and if you are serious about this and apply yourself, you WILL
hit the right idea - it will literally change your life. The internet
has taken people from being homeless, or being jobless and turned
them into very wealthy folk living the good life. There has never
been a time in history when it has so easy for anyone to turn
themselves into a self made millionaire very quickly. The internet
makes it possible for anyone.
After you've
looked at a number of internet business ideas you think might
interest you, there will be things to learn - but its VERY doable -
we'll point you in all the right directions to get the knowledge and
resources you need.
In many cases (not
all) , you will need to figure out how to set up a website that will
work well for you, how to get targeted traffic to your website in a
cost effective way, and then how to get people who come to your
website to do whatever it is you need them to do in your particular
case to make you money.
If you are selling
something online, just as in any business you'll need to deliver on
time, give great service and manage the customers so that you get
steady income from a well managed business. We've got more on that in
other sections of Start Internet Business but let's start by
looking at two internet business ideas that make great money for a
LOT of people - one of these ideas might lead you to your future
internet business and a fabulous home based income. (Also see:

Link Building
For a website to
do well, it needs a lot of quality links back to it. These links need
to be relevant and come from web pages that have good page ranks and
are "trusted" by the search engines. The problem for most
internet business owners is that the task of getting other sites to
link back to them is time consuming. They are busy building their
websites and taking care of other aspects of operating their
businesses, and its often not feasible for them to try to get this
done themselves. If they are going to get a good number of links
coming into their site, they'll have to pay someone else to do it for
them. This is where you step in and offer your services. A lot of
online entrepreneurs earn a very lucrative full time living in the
field of "Link Building" as it is called.
Your role would be
to contact websites that are related or relevant to the topic of your
clients website or product and ask them to link to your clients site.
Over time you'll become an expert on persuading people to give you
these valuable one-way links and once you build a decent portfolio of
clients you will be able to exchange links between sites that are
already under your control. If you get good at providing this
service, word of mouth will get around because good link building
professionals are in high demand, so you'll soon have all the
business that you can handle.
Niche Based Website
Are you quite
knowledgable on a particular topic? Turn your passion into a website.
Start by researching and examining the other websites about your
topic that already exist. Look for ways to make your website
different and better. Why should people choose your website over others?
Focus purely on
your topic (your niche) and build a website that includes articles,
forums, hints and tips, pictures, videos and a business directory
that home in exclusively on your theme. Whatever you do, make sure
your website content is all orginal. All created by you - no copying
material from books, magazines, or other sites. You cant simply
reword material you have read elsewhere. Search engines have ways of
detecting this and they will penalize you for it. Moreover, your
visitors dont want to see something they've seen elsewhere when they
come to your site. They'll simply leave if that's all you have to
offer. And you dont make money when your visitors dont stick around.
Keep up to date
with all that is happening in your field or pertaining to your topic,
and cover your topic from as many angles as possible. Add new content
often (daily basis is the ideal) so that your surfers keep coming
back on a regular basis. Over time, your traffic will build and you
will be able to sell advertising space - which can be very lucrative
- and possibly even charge a monthly subscription fee to your users.
Start an Online Store
This is the
probably the easiest business model to relate to and understand,
because it most resembles what you are already familiar with in the
off-line world. An online store is an adaptation of a store to the
online world. You sell products and merchandise through your web
site. The sales can be done with fixed prices or dynamic pricing (an
example of dynamic pricing would be online auctions). Your store may
offer retail pricing, wholesale pricing, or discount pricing.
Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate
marketing can make you money regardless of whether you have your own
online store.
If you already
have an online store of your own, you can create a network of
affiliates (commissioned sales people, essentially) whom you allow to
promote your products and your brand, in exchange for a commission on
every sale or lead they generate for you. All logistics, such as
billing, collection or shipment, remain your responsibility, and are
your expense. The the largest online store built on this principle is Amazon.com.
If you don't have
an online store of your own or a product to sell, you can promote the
products of others through Affiliate Marketing. The owner of online
stores provide you with special links to put on your website or other
places around the internet and these special links will track all
sales you have generated through software and the use of
"cookies". You are paid a commission for every sale which
is tracked back to you. Becoming an affiliate marketer doesn't cost
anything, so its one of the easiest methods of starting an internet
business. All you need is a web site and some traffic. In fact, in
many instances you may not even need your own website.
Start a Membership Site / Subscription Site
This is a "pay
for access" model. The customer pays you to be able to access
articles, information, tools, resources, or services on your web
site. Usually the customer pays by the month, and recurring billings
are charged to their credit card.
Sell Online Advertising Space
As in traditional
publishing, advertising is one of the first things that often comes
to mind when you think about profitability of a web site. The basic
idea is to generate as many visitors to a web site as possible in
order to be able to sell advertising space on the site. To generate
traffic, you may use online methods, and you may also use traditional
media such as newspapers, magazines, radio and television. You
provide your visitors with free information and services, which you
continually update and expand in order to keep them coming back and
to attract more and more web site visitors. The more visitors you
have, the more you can charge for advertising and the easier it is to
attract advertisers.
Build an Online Community
The objective of
your web site in this instance is to build a community of people who
share the same interests. This business model is more dependant on
returning visitors (visitor loyalty) as opposed to constantly
generating new visitors. In other words, your primary objective is to
create a site that keeps the same people coming back, because it is
these regular vistitors that will create the sense of community.
Discussion forums are the best example of a web site community.
Visitors might pay for access to the community, or revenue might be
generated through advertising, affiliate links, or sales of your own
products (which you develop to fit the community theme or topic).
Online Marketplace
A
"marketplace" model is a site that connects buyers with
sellers. You are paid via commissions on all items sold, or via fixed
listing fees. Some examples of possibilities are: online auction
sites (eBay), classified ads (the seller pays the web site), virtual
shopping mall. Also called online shopping malls, this category of
internet marketplace deserves a brief discussion all of its own. See below.
Start an Online Shopping Mall
An online shopping
mall is a website with several different shops are on the same web
site and each seller pays for its "location" in the
marketplace and gets the benefit of services managed by the site.
Common services / beneifts you would provide as the mall owner, for
example, would be advrtising the mall and driving customer traffic to it.
Summing It Up
Once you
successfully start an internet business, you'll be able to run your
business from anywhere as long as you have your laptop with you and a
high speed connection. You can live anywhere, travel as often as you
want, and still be able to take care of business. Once the money
starts rolling in, nothing is more rewarding than the luxury of
making a very good living exclusively via your internet business.
Just imagine the freedom!
